Sprinkler Repair & Landscape Lighting in Sonoma, CA

We repair and install sprinkler, drip and low-voltage lighting systems in Sonoma, new to us this year. Right now repairs are what we’re scheduling first: a zone that won’t run, a valve that won’t shut. Every schedule we set follows the city’s 8 pm to 6 am window.

What the city of Sonoma asks of your system

The City of Sonoma runs its own water utility, so these are its rules. The Rachio and Hunter Hydrawise controllers we install set run times to the weather on their own, inside the city’s window.

When should you water in Sonoma?

Between 8 pm and 6 am, and not within 48 hours of rain.

Yes, good timing. That’s inside the city’s 8 pm to 6 am window.

Drag the warm hand round the clock; blue is 8 pm to 6 am.

  • The city asks for that window for every system type.
  • Any watering days come from the city’s Water Division.

Does Sonoma pay to remove a lawn?

$1 a square foot, up to $1,000 for a home.

back for 600 sq ft of lawn taken out

$1 a sq ft, up to $1,000.

  • A pre-inspection comes first, with the lawn green, mowed and watered. Then 120 days to finish.
  • The new planting goes on drip, on its own valve.
  • One rebate per property, paid as funds allow. The city’s form is dated April 2015, so ask whether the terms still stand.

Is Sonoma in a water-shortage stage? No. The city says it is not in a drought emergency. The standing water-waste rules apply anyway: no runoff or overspray, and plumbing breaks fixed within 72 hours.

Is there a smart-controller rebate? Not one the city lists. Its list covers the turf rebate and free indoor devices. Nothing for controllers, nozzles or drip parts.

The turf rebate, in order

A conversion done to the rebate’s terms keeps the lawn alive until the city has seen it, pulls the old heads and runs the new beds on drip from their own valve, which is how we build one anyway. We plan and install drip conversions. Whether a plant list counts as low-water is the city’s call; ask at the pre-inspection.

Repairs first, and a new system only when the old one isn’t worth saving.

A valve that floods the gutter, or a line that seeps under the lawn for a week, breaks the city’s water-waste rules as well as running up the bill.

So we run every zone and fix what fails before anyone talks about a new system. Lawns get short cycles with a soak between, so water sinks in instead of running off; beds get drip.

An older system has usually been patched more than once, with mismatched heads, spliced wire and valves past their life. We replace what fails instead of patching it again, with Rain Bird valves, new wire runs and sealed connectors.

Lighting works the same way. Dead fixtures, a transformer fault or a cut cable get fixed first. Then LED upgrades in fixtures worth keeping, and a new low-voltage design and install when the old one isn’t.

Sonoma questions

  • No, Sonoma is new to us.

Sonoma and the county’s other towns joined our service area in 2026, so this page has no Sonoma jobs, photos or reviews. Our six-plus years of work and our Google reviews come from Solano and Napa County, and you can read them on Google. The city’s rules here come from the city itself.

  • No, irrigation and lighting only.

In Sonoma County we repair and install sprinklers, drip and landscape lighting, and right now repairs are what we schedule first. Lawn care and maintenance plans are for Solano and Napa County homes.

  • 8 pm to 6 am.

The city asks for that window, and nothing within 48 hours of an eighth of an inch of rain. Runoff and overspray are prohibited at any hour. The city’s Water Division has the final word on watering days.
